The latest Animal Liberation NSW KFC demo at Town Hall was even bigger and better than the last one! We had over 20 people come along - thanks to all for a great effort. This demo is becoming a bit of a city centre fixture and rallying point for activists - it was great to see members from other groups such as Greenpeace and TWS joining in as well as Danielle, our roving radio presenter from 2RRR, who captured the mood of the protest for broadcast over the airwaves.

Lots of snappy new eye-catching red and black placards announced to the passing lunch time throngs the cruelty of the chicken farming industry and KFC's total lack of interest in making things more humane. Enlarged photos taken inside chicken sheds were plastered along the footpath and revealed to the crowds the plight of the chickens in this inhumane industry. Each of KFC's windows received a poster telling of the cruelty behind the colonel and the local constabulary turned up again to wish us well - one of the officers even took time to read one of the leaflets and voice his disgust at the chicken processing industry!

Our dedicated protesters were lined up in front of KFC plus at all four corners of George and Bathurst streets and over a thousand leaflets were handed out to inform the public about KFC's role in the cruel industry. A great many members of the passing public also took time to sign our petitions - these will be gathered together and presented to the CEO of KFC's parent company.

The latest Animal Liberation NSW demo against KFC on Friday the 12th September was a great success with numbers growing each time. Hundreds of leaflets were handed out and both the pavement and KFC's windows were festooned with 'KFC CRUELTY' posters and placards. The police also turned up due to complaints from KFC management because one of the offensive protesters was standing in the doorway (how rude!). Nevertheless, after being instructed to move on or be charged, the offender decided to take two paces to the side of the doorway and continue to 'talk' to those coming out and going into the 'restaurant'. The police wished us 'good luck' as they departed with smiles on their faces.

We attracted a lot of interest from the passing lunch-time crowds. It was great to see several 'new' faces there as well as seasoned campaigners - thanks to all. The timing was excellent as two days later on Sunday we got amazing media exposure for the recent AL raid on the KFC supplier chicken farm on the Central Coast. With the Sunday Tele, radio, plus Channel 7 and ABC-TV news running the story of our raid the previous week many people who took our leaflets and saw our demo on Friday will have connected the two events. Hopefully they will now be, as the Telegraph Editorial suggests, taking their business elsewhere.

While KFC refuse to clean up their act - we'll continue to campaign against them.
